Venue Confetti Requirements

Many venues now require confetti to be biodegradable, but it's important to understand that different venues may define this differently.

In most cases, venues consider biodegradable confetti to be:

  • Natural dried flower petals
  • Freeze-dried flower petals

Some materials that are often assumed to be acceptable may not meet venue requirements. For example:

  • Preserved flower petals contain glycerine and other preservation agents. While they may appear natural, these substances can enter waterways and may have an impact on wildlife and the environment.
  • Tissue paper or paper confetti can quickly become soggy when wet and may leave residue behind. Coloured paper products can also transfer dyes and potentially stain surfaces.

For customers looking for the most widely accepted options, we generally recommend:

  • Dried flower petals
  • Freeze-dried flower petals
  • White rice paper confetti, which is water-soluble and contains no added dyes

Our Confetti

All of our petal confetti is made using dried and freeze-dried flowers, making it suitable for the vast majority of venues that require natural, biodegradable confetti. We carefully select petals that provide beautiful colour, texture and throwability while meeting the requirements commonly set by wedding and event venues.

Two of our signature blends, Love Potion and Something Blue, also include premium water-soluble white rice paper confetti. This lightweight addition creates a beautiful floating effect, helping the confetti stay airborne for longer and enhancing photographs. Unlike coloured paper confetti, the white rice paper contains no dyes and dissolves naturally when exposed to moisture.
